Colleen Feeney Named MASCAC Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - For the third time this season and sixth time in her career, Bridgewater State College senior forward Colleen Feeney has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Feeney averaged 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds and shot 60-percent (18 of 30) from the floor in a pair of games at the Land of Magic Classic in Dayton Beach, Florida. She now has 921 points in her collegiate career, which includes two seasons at Rhode Island College

Feeney scored 24 points to go along with nine rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots in a 71-68 loss to Hamline University. She then posted her ninth double-double of the season connecting for 24 points on 10 of 12 shooting while pulling down 11 rebounds in an 85-76 loss to Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The MASCAC statistical leader in five different categories, Feeney leads the conference in scoring (20.2 ppg), rebounding (13.0 rpg), defensive rebounds (9.9 rpg), field goal percentage (.600) and blocked shots (33).  She is also second in free throw percentage (.754), third in minutes played (31.3 per game) and fourth in offensive rebounds (3.1 rpg).

Last season Feeney earned MASCAC Player of the Week honors three times despite not arriving at BSC until after the first semester and playing in just 16 games.

The Bears are currently 7-3 on the season and will travel to Western New England College on Thursday night for a 6 o'clock game with the Golden Bears.  BSC opens MASCAC play on Tuesday, January 15th as the Bears travel to Westfield State College for a 5:30 tip-off with the Owls.
