Caitlin Feeney Named ECAC Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior guard Caitlin Feeney has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Feeney helped the Bears go a perfect 3-0 last week, and capture the program's first MASCAC regular season title since the 1985-86 season, as she averaged 22.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals.  She also became the 13th player in Bridgewater State women's basketball history to score 1,000 points in a BSC uniform as she is currently ninth on the Bears' all-time scoring list with 1,042 points.

Feeney scored 20 points, all of which came in the second half, and added eight rebounds and four assists in the Bears' 75-41 win over Worcester State. She then posted a double-double with a career-high 27 points, including the 1,000th of her career, to go along with 11 rebounds and four assists as Bridgewater State knocked off Salem State on the road, 66-53. Feeney capped off the week with a 20-point, eight-rebound, four-assist performance as the Bears won the MASCAC title with a 64-53 win over Fitchburg State.

Through 24 games this season, Feeney is averaging 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game.  She currently ranks second in the MASCAC in assists, fourth in both field goal percentage (.462), fifth in scoring and steals, and seventh in free throw percentage (.695) as well as defensive rebounds (4.5 rpg).

Feeney, who was named MASCAC Player of the Week on Monday, has played in 103 games over her four seasons at Bridgewater State.  The school record of 105 games played is held by JoAnne Runge who competed on the BSC women's basketball team from 1983 to 1987.

Bridgewater State enters this week's MASCAC Tournament with a record of 20-4 and an 11-1 mark in conference play.  The Bears, who are the top seed in the tournament, will have a first round bye and will host the semifinals and championship game on Friday and Saturday.  BSC will take on either fourth seeded Worcester State or fifth seeded Westfield State in their semifinal match-up on Friday night at 6 PM.
