Feeney Sisters Lead Bears to 76-55 Win Over WNEC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior center Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) had a night to remember with 30 points and 20 rebounds in leading the visiting Bridgewater State College women's basketball team to a 76-55 victory over Western New England College in a non-league game Thursday night (Jan. 10) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Feeney sank 10-of-15 shots from the field and made 10-12 free throws, and just missed a triple double after blocking eight shots.

Colleen's sister Caitlin Feeney (a senior guard) also compiled a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Bears' improved their record to 8-3 while snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

Western New England College held a 13-10 lead almost nine minutes into the game before Bridgewater State pulled away for a 38-29 advantage at halftime.

The Golden Bears (4-6) got within nine at 53-44 following a three-pointer by freshman guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) with

11:51 remaining the game, but the visitors rattled off the next 10 points capped by two free throws by Colleen Feeney at the 9:03 mark.

Belowsky finished with 16 points and five steals while senior guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) added 11 points.

Senior guard Melissa Murphy (Rockland, MA) was the other BSC player in double figures with 12 points. She pulled down eight rebounds and had seven steals.

Bridgewater State held a 54-36 advantage in rebounding and converted 23-of-29 free throws (79.3%).
