BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior second baseman Samantha Mulcahy has been selected to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III All-New England Team.

Mulcahy, a third team selection, is making her first appearance on the NFCA All-New England Team. The Taunton, Massachusetts product batted .393 (48-122) in 38 games this season with six doubles, one triple, 29 runs scored and 15 runs batted in. She also walked 15 times, was hit by a pitch four times and stole 16 bases.

Mulcahy led the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in stolen bases, ranked third in batting average and on base percentage (..472), and sixth in hits (48). She also tied for fifth in the conference in runs, tied for seventh in being hit by a pitch, and tied for eighth in walks.

Defensively, Mulcahy finished third in the MASCAC in assists (93) and tied for third in double plays turned (9).

In 73 games over her first two seasons at Bridgewater State, Mulcahy has posted a .374 (91-243) career batting average with eight doubles, three triples, a pair of home runs, 55 runs scored and 35 RBI to go along with 26 walks and 24 stolen bases. She also has a career .446 on base percentage as well as a .457 slugging percentage.

Earlier this month, Mulcahy was named to the All-MASCAC Softball Team for the second straight season.

Thanks in part to the stellar performance of Mulcahy, the BSU softball team wrapped up the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 20-21 included a 12-2 mark in conference play as the Bears captured a share of the program's 26th MASCAC regular season title. Seeded first in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears won their first two tournament games before dropping a pair of decisions in the championship round to second-seeded and regular season co-champion Framingham State University.
