Jenny Heller Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior second baseman Jenny Heller has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

Heller batted .429 (6-14) with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and five runs batted in during a 3-1 week for the Bears last week. The Taunton, Massachusetts product also posted a .714 slugging percentage.

Heller went 4-for-8 at the plate with a double, a triple, a stolen base, three runs scored and four RBI in a MASCAC doubleheader sweep of Fitchburg State University. She also went 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI in a doubleheader split with Curry College.

In 22 games this season, Heller is batting .379 (22-58) with five doubles, a triple, a home run, three stolen bases, ten runs scored and 13 RBI. She is currently tied for seventh in the MASCAC in doubles and ranks tenth in slugging percentage (.552).

In 51 games over her first two seasons with the Bears, Heller has a career batting average of .336 (46-137) with seven doubles, a triple, a home run, four stolen bases, 21 runs and 23 RBI.

The BSU softball team is currently 10-14 on the season and 3-3 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to North Adams on Tuesday afternoon for a MASCAC twinbill with the Trailblazers of MCLA. Game one is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
