Courtney Leddy Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior second baseman Courtney Leddy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

A native of Saugus, Massachusetts, Leddy batted .361 (13-38) in ten games for the Bears last week with a pair of doubles, two stolen bases, ten runs scored and six runs batted in at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. She also posted a .972 fielding percentage in 36 chances at second base and helped turn four double plays.

Leddy recorded multiple hits in five of the ten games including a 2-for-5, three RBI performance in a 15-7 win over Elms College. She also went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in a 6-2 setback to Albion College; 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a 4-2 win over Pitt.-Bradford; 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in an 8-6 loss to Kenyon College; and 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 5-2 win over Rockford University.

In 118 games over four seasons with the Bears, Leddy sports a career .329 (121-368) batting average with 15 doubles, five triples, 85 runs scored and 47 RBI.

The BSU softball team is currently 4-6 on the young season. The Bears are scheduled to travel to Wheaton College on Tuesday, March 21st for a three o'clock doubleheader with the Lyons.
