Allie LeBlanc Named MASCAC Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior center fielder Allie LeBlanc has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance at the MASCAC Tournament.  This marks the second MASCAC Player of the Week honor for LeBlanc this season and fourth of her career.

LeBlanc, who hails from Somerset, Massachusetts, came up with clutch hit after clutch hit to lead Bridgewater State to the MASCAC Tournament championship, the Bears' sixth in the eight-year history of the event.  She batted .444 (4 for 9) in the Bears' tournament title run with two home runs, a double, three runs scored and nine runs batted in.

LeBlanc blasted a three-run home run in Bridgewater State's 4-2 win over Framingham State in the tournament opener. She then belted a three-run double in the Bears' 4-0 shutout of Westfield State.

LeBlanc capped off her stellar MASCAC Tournament performances by hitting a two-run home run and adding a RBI single in the Bears' championship game win over Westfield State. LeBlanc's two-run dinger in the third inning erased an early 1-0 deficit.

In 39 games this season, LeBlanc is batting .434 (46-for-106) with three home runs, ten doubles, 26 runs scored and 35 RBI.  She is currently posting a .632 slugging percentage and a .488 on base percentage.  LeBlanc ranks among the MASCAC leaders in batting average, doubles, home runs, runs scored, runs batted in, total bases, slugging percentage and on base percentage.

The Bears will be making the program's 20th appearance in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament and ninth appearance in the last eleven years. BSC is seeded sixth at the seven-team New England Regional hosted by Rhode Island College.  The Bears (26-15) will take on third seeded Saint Joseph's College of Long Island (30-6) on Thursday at noon.
