Trevor Wysong to Compete at NCAA Cross Country Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) will compete at the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 23rd.

Wysong is one of 280 runners, including 49 from the New England region, competing at the national championship meet which will be held at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Spalding University is the host school and the men’s meet is slated to get underway at 10:45 a.m. (ET).

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large.

Fifty-six individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.

Wysong is the first harrier in BSU men's cross country history to qualify for the national championship meet in back-to-back years. In 2018, he placed 70th at the DIII Championships in Winneconne, Wisconsin with a time of 25:23.3.

On Saturday, Wysong earned All-New England honors at the Division III New England Cross Country Championships hosted by Bowdoin College as he placed 12th out of a field of 385 runners. Wysong covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:11.22.
