Men’s Cross Country Places Second at Season-Opening Jim Sheehan Invitational

LEOMINSTER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team opened the 2019 season with a second place finish at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational held on Saturday at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster, Massachusetts.

Senior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed second out of a field of 99 runners as he completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:47.5.

Senior captain Mike Hutchinson (Leominster, Mass.) crossed the line in 14th with a time of 27:36.5, while fellow senior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top three runners as he placed 18th overall with a time of 28:01.1.

Also placing in the top 25 on the day were a pair of freshman, Doug Alvarado (East Boston, Mass) and Cameron Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.), as well as junior Lukas Moscoso (Whitman, Mass.). Alvarado and Riley each posted a time of 28:19.9 to tie for 21st place, while Moscoso crossed the line at 28:24.3 to finish 25th overall.

Following an off weekend, the Bears will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 21st.
