Wysong Captures Individual Title at MASCAC Cross Country Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Junior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) captured the individual title to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team to a second place finish at the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Championships held on Saturday at Mount Greylock High School in Williamstown.

Wysong covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 27:17.22 as he outran the field of 87 harriers by more than ten seconds. For his performance, Wysong earned MASCAC Runner of the Year and All-MASCAC honors.

Senior Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line as he placed fourth with a time of 27:44.91, while junior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) finished eighth with a time of 28:26.96. Keough and Higgins also garnered All-MASCAC accolades.

BSU rookie skipper Connor Foley was voted by his fellow coaches at the meet as the Champion's Choice Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Fitchburg State University (46 Pts.) captured the team title followed by Bridgewater State (50 Pts.) in second and Westfield State University (52 Pts.) in third.

Following an off weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday, November 10th.
