Wysong Leads Men’s Cross Country at UMD Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed second out of a field of 295 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University men's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning.

Wysong completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:39.00 as he finished just seven seconds behind the leader. Senior Sam Brunnette of Plymouth State University won the meet with a time of 24:32.00.

The Bears finished ninth in the team standings. Southern New Hampshire University captured the team title followed by WPI in second place and AIC in third.

Junior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line as he placed 51st with a time of 26:35.76. Senior Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) checked in with a time of 26:41.39 to finish 54th overall, while sophomore Nikolas Beshere (Winthrop, Mass.) posted a time of 27:00.65 to place 63rd.

After a weekend off, the Bears will compete at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI on Saturday, September 29th.
