BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Exondus Barnes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Barnes placed fourth in the high jump this past weekend at the Emmanuel Indoor Opener with a school-record leap of six feet, 4.75 inches (1.95m). The East Providence, R.I. native eclipsed the previous BSU indoor mark of six feet, 4.25 inches (1.94m) set by Justin Powell back in 2012.

Barnes currently ranks third in New England in the high jump and 16th in all of Division III.

The BSU men's indoor track & Field team will compete on Saturday (5:00 PM) at the Joe Donahue Games hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center.
