Jacob DeAndrade Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Jacob DeAndrade has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC Weekly awards program.

DeAndrade placed second in both the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter dash with a times of 23.72 and 7.20 seconds, respectively, at the RIC Invitational this past weekend. The Taunton, Massachusetts product qualified for the Division III New England Championships in both events.

DeAndrade currently ranks eighth among Division III New England student-athletes in the 60-meter dash and 13th in the 200-meter dash.

The BSU men's track & field team has earned each of the first two MASCAC Rookie of the Week awards to open the indoor season. Freshman Matthew Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.) also garnered the honor on December 3rd. 

After the holiday break, the BSU indoor track & field teams will compete at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, January 12th.
