Jacob DeAndrade Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the fifth straight week, Bridgewater State University freshman Jacob DeAndrade has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, DeAndrade finished 20th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.14 seconds at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center this past weekend. 

DeAndrade currently ranks 14th among Division III New England student-athletes in the 60-meter dash and 16th in the 200-meter dash.

The BSU men's track & field team has earned each of the first six MASCAC Rookie of the Week awards to open the indoor season. Freshman Matthew Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.) garnered the honor on December 3rd, while DeAndrade picked up the accolade on December 10th as well as January 14th, 21st and 28th.

Next weekend, the BSU indoor track & field teams will compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
