Jacob DeAndrade Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Jacob DeAndrade has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC Weekly awards program.

DeAndrade recorded a career-best time of 7.17 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash to finish third at the Tufts Invitational this past weekend. The Taunton, Massachusetts posted a Division III New England Championships qualifying time in the event.

DeAndrade currently ranks 15th among Division III New England student-athletes in the 60-meter dash and 13th in the 200-meter dash.

The BSU men's track & field team has earned each of the first three MASCAC Rookie of the Week awards to open the indoor season. Freshman Matthew Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.) garnered the honor on December 3rd, while DeAndrade also picked up the accolade on December 10th.

In upcoming action, the BSU indoor track & field teams will compete at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, January 19th.
