BRIDGEWATER, Mass.-- Bridgewater State University freshman Matthew Cronin has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
Cronin began his collegiate career with a fifth place finish in the shot put at the Seventh Annual UMass Boston Indoor Open held this past weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Weymouth, Massachusetts product posted a mark of 44 feet, 4.75 inches (13.53m) as he also qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event.
Cronin currently ranks third in New England (DIII) in the shot put and 36th in all of Division III.
In upcoming action, the BSU indoor track & field teams will be competing at the RIC Invitational on Saturday, December 8th.
