Carlson Competes in Decathlon at DIII New Englands

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) is in tenth place in the decathlon after the first day of the 2019 Division III New England Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Williams College.

Carlson recorded a score of 2,730 points over the first five events. Sophomore Cayd Wortman of Husson University leads all decathletes at the meet with 3,268 points.

Carlson posted a score of 610 points in the 100-meter dash (12.21), 596 points in the shot put (38'9.75"/11.83m), 528 points in the high jump (5'6"/1.68m), 523 points in the long jump (18'8.5"/5.70m) and 473 points in the 400-meter dash (58.29).

Carlson placed first in the shot put, eighth in the 100 and ninth in both the high jump and long jump. He also finished 11th in 400.

The decathlon will resume on Friday at noon.
