NORTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team won seven events as the Bears competed at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday at the Haas Athletic Center.
Junior Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) captured top honors in both the high jump and the triple jump. Ndikumana posted marks of six feet, 0.75 inches (1.85m) in the high jump and 42 feet (12.80m) in the triple jump.
Sophomore Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) placed first in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11.75 inches (6.70m), while freshman Matthew Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.) won the shot put with a career-best toss of 44 feet, 11.5 inches (13.70m).
In the track events, freshman Jacob DeAndrade (Taunton, Mass.) placed first in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a career-best time of 7.10 seconds.
Junior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) was the first runner to cross the line in the 1,000-meter run as he completed the race in a career-best time of 2:31.67, while sophomore Nikolas Beshere (Winthrop, Mass.) won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:56.81.
Higgins qualified for both the DIvision III New Englanf Championships and the NEICAAA Championships in the 1,000.
Junior Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) placed second in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 53 feet (16.15m)
Next weekend, the BSU track & field teams will compete at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University.
