Joshua Higgins Named MASCAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore Joshua Higgins has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Higgins placed fourth in the finals of the 800-me­ter run at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held this past weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Fitchburg, Massachusetts native posted a career indoor-best time of 1:53.99 in the finals as he bettered his preliminary time (1:55.96) by nearly three seconds. Higgins, who garnered All-NEICAA honors in the event, was the only Division III student-athlete to compete in the 800 finals.

Higgins is currently ranked seventh in New England in the 800 and 15th in all of Division III. He has qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 800, the mile and the 1,000-meter run.

The indoor schedule continues for the BSU men's track & field team on Saturday as the Bears compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by Rhode Island College.
