Men's Track & Field Competes at Jerry Gravel Classic

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University outdoor track & field team competed at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday.

Senior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) captured the meet title in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.34 seconds, while classmate Cameron Williamson (North Easton, Mass.) grabbed top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 11.75 inches (14.32m).

Freshman Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) finished third in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 4.25 inches (6.51m). Williamson was fourth in the long jump as he check in at 21 feet, 2.5 inches (6.46m).

Moore also placed third in the javelin with a career-best heave of 185 feet, ten inches (56.64m). Sophomore Ryan Bain (Tewksbury, Mass.), junior Brandon Houle (Cumberland, R.I.) and freshman John Chretien (Taunton, Mass.) finished fourth (180'1"/54.90m), fifth (172'3"/52.50m) and sixth (172'2"/52.47m), respectively, in the javelin. Bain and Chretien both posted career-best marks.

Sophomore Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) took home third place in the discus with a career-best toss of 149 feet, three inches (45.49m). Seniors Austin James (Mansfield, Mass.) and Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.) placed eighth (44'9.75"/13.66m) and ninth (44'4.75m/13.53m), respectively, in the shot put.

Freshman John Lara (South Boston, Mass.) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.19 seconds.

Kotleski, Williamson, Moore, Bain, Houle, Chretien, Johnson, James, Hollowell and Lara all recorded Division III New England Championships qualifying times or marks in their respective events.

Sophomore Joseph Celia (Bridgewater, Mass.) won the meet title in the 10,000-meter run with a career-best time of 34:19.71.

Bridgewater placed third in the team standings with 125 points. Host Westfield won the meet with 137 points, while Utica College finished second with 134 points.

Next Friday, the Bears will compete at the 11th Annual Eastern Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University.
