BSU Men’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at RIC Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring RIC Invitational hosted by Rhode Island College and held on Saturday at Providence Career & Technical High School.

Senior Cameron Williamson (North Easton, Mass.) posted the top mark in the triple jump (43'10.5"/13.37m) and sophomore Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) captured top honors in the 400-meter dash (50.91). Both Williamson and Haynes qualified for the Division III New England Championships in their respective events.

Senior Joseph Kisamore (Attleboro, Mass.) placed first in the mile run (4:34.20), while junior Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) was the first to cross the line in the 1,000-meter run (2:38.59). Kisamore and Keough each ran a leg on the Bears' first place 4x800-meter relay (8:29.61) along with sophomore Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) and freshman Dylan Lynch (East Taunton, Mass.).

Freshman John Lara (Boston, Mass.) placed second in the 600-meter run (1:23.65), while Higgins finished third (1:23.77) in the event. Lara and Higgins both qualified for DIII New Englands as well as the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships.

Freshman Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.), freshman Owen Whitney (Foxboro, Mass.), senior Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.), sophomore Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and junior Austin Maskell (Weymouth, Mass.) all recorded DIII New England qualifying marks in their respective events. Moore and Whitney placed second (21'6.25"/6.56m) and fourth (20'11.75"/6.39m), respectively, in the long jump, while Hollowell finished third in the shot put (44'/13.41m). Johnson grabbed second place in the weight throw (49'7.75"/15.13m) and Maskell recorded a third-place showing also in the weight throw (48'0.5"/14.64m).

The Bears are off until Saturday, January 13th when they compete at the Tufts Invitational.
