BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Nick Johnson has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
A native of Marstons Mills, Massachusetts, Johnson captured top honors in the discus throw with a toss of 136 feet, three inches (41.54) at the season-opening BSU Bears Invitational this past weekend. He qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event.
Johnson also placed seventh in the hammer throw (125’7”/38.29m) and tenth in the shot put (40’1.5”/12.23m) at the meet.
The BSU men's outdoor track & field team will be back in action on Saturday when the Bears compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
