BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Lamont Haynes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week.
Haynes captured top honors in the 400-meter dash with a career-best time of 49.52 seconds at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University this past weekend. The Boston, Massachusetts product also ran a leg on the Bears’ 4x400-meter relay which placed first at the meet with a time of 3:25.56.
Haynes qualified for the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships in the 400.
On Friday, the BSU men's track & field team will compete at the 10th Annual Eastern Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University.
