Carlson Places 8th, Sheehan 9th at Holy Cross Decathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Jamie Carlson (Maynard, Mass.) and senior James Sheehan (Dedham, Mass.) placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the decathlon during the second and final day of the Holy Cross Multi-Meet on Thursday.

Carlson recorded an overall score of 4,885 points. During today's events, he tallied 586 points in the discus (118'6"/36.13m), 553 points in the javelin (156'1"/47.57m), 522 points in the pole vault (11'11.75"/3.65m), 437 points in the 110-meter hurdles (18.95) and 200 points in the 1,500-meter run (6:16.71).

On Wednesday, Carlson notched 589 points in the 100-meter dash (12.32), 524 points in the shot put (34'11"/10.64m), 520 points in the high jump (5'5.75"/1.67m), 492 points in the long jump (18'2.5"/5.55m) and 462 points in the 400-meter dash (58.59).

Sheehan finished with an overall point total of 3,456. During today's events, he accrued 457 points in the discus (97'1"/29.60m), 417 points in the javelin (125'5"/38.24m), 229 points in the hurdles (21.67) and 210 points in the pole vault (7'8.5"/2.35m). Sheehan did not score in the 1,500.

On Wednesday, Sheehan posted a score of 518 points in the 100 (12.71), 460 points in the shot put (31'5.25"/9.58m), 413 points in the 400 (1:00.02), 404 points in the high jump (4'11.75"/1.52m) and 348 points in the long jump (15'9.75"/4.82m).
