Men’s Track & Field Places Fourth at MASCAC Indoor Championships

GORHAM, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's track & field team placed fourth at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships held on Saturday at the University of Southern Maine.

The MASCAC Championships were held in conjunction with the New England Alliance Championships.

The Bears recorded 108 team points to finish behind MASCAC champion Worcester State University (198 pts.), Westfield State University (164 pts.) and Fitchburg State University (110 pts.).

In the Alliance standings, Bridgewater State finished in seventh place with 53 points. Host Southern Maine captured the meet title with 144.5 points, while Worcester State placed second (113.5 pts.) and Westfield State checked in at third (98.5 pts.).

Freshman Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) captured the MASCAC individual title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.82 seconds. Haynes also placed second in the New England Alliance results.

The Bears' 4x200-meter relay team squad featuring Haynes, sophomore Alex Goss (North Dighton, Mass.), freshman Kyle Cordeiro (Westport, Mass.) and junior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) garnered the MASCAC crown with a time of 1:32.07. The foursome also finished second in the Alliance.

Junior Cameron Williamson (North Easton, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' MASCAC champions with a leap of 45 feet, 4.25 inches (13.82m) in the triple jump. Williamson also placed second in the Alliance results.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's indoor track & field team will compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Tufts University.
