Chris Perry Honored with National Championship Ring

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University Department of Athletics honored track & field National Champion Chris Perry during a special ring ceremony prior to the men's basketball game against Rhode Island College on Tuesday night.

Perry became the first National Champion in Bridgewater State history as he captured the triple jump title last May at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Saint Lawrence University.

Perry shattered his own school record in the triple jump as he posted the winning mark of 50 feet, 11 inches (15.52 meters) on his third attempt of the day.

Perry, who garnered All-American accolades with his performance, also earned All-American status in both the triple jump (2nd place) and the long jump (3rd place) during the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships back in March. Along with his outdoor triple jump record, Perry also holds BSU indoor marks in both the triple jump (48'9.5") and the long jump (23'4.5").

BSU President Fred Clark and Director of Athletics Dr. Marybeth Lamb presented Chris with his National Championship ring.

After the ring ceremony, the men's basketball team then proceeded to post a 67-60 victory over RIC.
