Goehring, Murtagh, Perry Headed to NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Seniors Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) and Chris Perry (Attleboro, Mass.) and junior Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) have each qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will get underway later this week.

The national championship meet will take place from May 21st to May 23rd at the Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex on the campus of Saint Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Goehring is making his first appearance at an NCAA Track & Field Championship meet.  He is ranked 18th in all of Division III (17th among the accepted entries) in the 800-meter run with a qualifying time of 1:51.44. Goehring recorded his BSU school record-setting time on Friday at the ECAC Division III Championships.

Perry qualified in both the triple jump and the long jump for the second straight track & field season. He is ranked fifth in the triple with a BSU record-setting mark of 48 feet, 8.75 inches (14.85 meters), and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 24 feet, 0.75 inches (7.33 meters). Perry posted his qualifying marks at the NEICAAA Championships (triple jump) and the ECAC Championships (long jump).

Murtagh will be making his second straight appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as he qualified in the 110-meter high hurdles with a school record time of 14.35 seconds.  Murtagh, who is tied for sixth in all of Division III in the event, recorded his qualifying time last weekend at the NEICAAA Championships.

Perry garnered All-American honors in both the triple jump and the long jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this past winter, while Murtagh earned All-American accolades in the hurdles at the outdoor championships last spring and the indoor championships in March.

Perry is scheduled to compete in the long jump on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 and the triple jump on Saturday morning at 11:30.

For Murtagh, the preliminaries of the 110-meter high hurdles is slated for 5:35 PM on Friday with the finals on Saturday afternoon at 2:05.

Goehring will compete in the preliminaries of the 800 on Friday evening at 7:00 with the finals on Saturday afternoon at 3:05.
