Barrow Paces Bridgewater State to 8th Place Finish at NE Alliance Championships

GORHAM, Maine -- Junior middle-distance runner Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA) captured the New England Alliance title in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.96 as he helped pace the Bears to an eighth place finish at the New England Alliance Championship meet on Saturday hosted by the University of Southern Maine.

In the field, junior Chris Clark (Pittsfield, MA) placed third (13.50m) in the shot-put while classmate Jason Williams (Bradford, MA) took home third (13.99m) in the weight throw.

Senior Fernando Vieira (Mattapoisett, MA) and classmate Nilton Gomes (Fall River, MA) placed seventh (:51.96) and tenth (:52.67) in the 400, respectively while Vieira also crossed the line fifth (6.75) in the 55-meter dash. Gomes also jumped to a seventh place finish (12.88m) in the triple jump.

BSC’s 4x400-meter relay team of Gomes, Barrow, Vieira, and freshman Christopher Dagistino (Littleton, MA) garnered a sixth place finish with a time of 3:34.23.

Bridgewater scored 33 total points at the meet while Keene State was the meet winner with 140 points.
