BSC Men's Track Places 7th at Tufts Invitational

Meet Results 

MEDFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College Men's Indoor Track & Field squad placed seventh (43 pts) at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday afternoon.  This marked the first meet of the New Year for the Bears' track and field teams.

Seniors Fernando Vieira (Mattapoisett, MA) and Nilton Gomes (Fall River, MA) paced the Bears with a pair of top-ten finishes each.  Vieira placed fourth in the 55-meter dash (6.79) and seventh in the 400-meter dash (53.11). Gomes was fifth in the 400-meter dash (52.66) and sixth in the triple jump (41'11.5").

Junior thrower Chris Clark (Pittsfield, MA) was the highest placer for BSC as he posted a throw of 45'5.3" in the shot put which was good enough for second overall in that event. Junior Jason Williams (Bradford, MA) finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 44'2.7".

Also highlighting the meet for Bridgewater State was junior distance runner Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA) who finished fourth in the 1,000-mile run with a time of 2:36.37.

Host Tufts University won the meet with a score of 203 points. 

The Bears will return to action as they head to Wesleyan University on Saturday for the Wesleyan Invitational II.
