BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Charles Fiske has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Fiske recorded his first collegiate singles win in the Bears' 9-0 Little East victory over the University of Southern Maine this past weekend as he posted a 6-4, 6-4 straight set triumph at the fourth flight. The Taunton, Massachusetts product also paired with teammate Dan Salzberg (Uxbridge, Mass.) for an 8-6 win at third doubles against the Huskies.

Fiske was in the lineup for both singles (#6) and doubles (#3) play in the Bears' 9-0 non-conference win over Thomas College last week but his matches were not contested.

Fiske is currently 2-1 in doubles competition this season competing exclusively out of the third flight.

The BSU men's tennis team is presently 7-3 on the season and 2-1 in the Little East. The Bears entertain conference rival Rhode Island College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30.
