Men's Tennis Falls to UMass Dartmouth, 8-1

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  The UMass Dartmouth men's tennis team posted an 8-1 Little East Conference (LEC) victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon at the Dartmouth Indoor Tennis Center.

The host Corsairs improve to 6-7 on the season and 3-2 in the Little East, while the Bears fall to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Senior Anthony Joseph (Acushnet, Mass.) and sophomores Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) and Baylen Harper (Leicester, Mass.) joined freshman Kyle Noseworthy (Dartmouth, Mass.) in notching straight set singles triumphs on the day for the host Corsairs, who also received a straight set win at number six singles from freshman Dan Botelho (Somerset, Mass.).

Joseph and sophomore Tristin Viale (Westfield, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-3 victory at number one doubles for UMass Dartmouth, which received a similar result at the number two spot from Brooks and Harper along with an 8-1 triumph at the number three position from the tandem of Noseworthy and sophomore Sean Nutter (Mattapoisett, Mass.).

Sophomore William Jones (Wrexham, England) earned the lone point of the afternoon in the setback for the visiting Bears as he won a 13-11 pro set over Viale after the two players had split sets at number two singles.

UMass Dartmouth heads to Weston, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Regis in a non-league dual-match beginning at 3:30 pm, while Bridgewater State will be idle until next Saturday, April 20th when the Bears host Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference dual-match in Bridgewater, Mass. that begins at Noon.
