Men's Tennis Falls to LEC Foe Salem State, 9-0

SALEM, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to host Salem State University in a Little East Conference (LEC) match on Saturday afternoon at the Central Campus Tennis Courts.

The host Vikings improve to 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Little East, while the visiting Bears fall to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Salem swept the three doubles matches and all six singles flights to come away with the conference win.

Freshman Andrew Muttiah (Westwood, Mass.) posted a 6-0, 6-1 straight set decision over BSU senior Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) in the battle of the top flight singles players. Muttiah also teamed with senior John Didonato (Newbury, Mass.) for an 8-0 triumph at first doubles.

The Little East schedule continues for both teams on Tuesday afternoon. The Bears entertain the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine at 3:30, while the Vikings travel to UMass Boston for a three o'clock match with the Beacons.
