Men's Tennis Falls to UMass Boston, 9-0, in Season Opener

BOSTON, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University men's tennis team opened the 2018 campaign with a 9-0 setback to Little East Conference (LEC) foe UMass Boston on Saturday afternoon at the BC High School Tennis Courts.

The host Beacons improve to 4-3 (1-0 LEC) on the season with their fourth straight win, while the Bears fall to 0-1 (0-1 LEC). The match marked the conference opener for both teams.

UMass swept all three doubles match and each of the six singles flights to record the win. The third singles match went to three sets as senior Sanshrut Sharma (Mumbai, India) dropped the opening set before posting a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 decision over BSU senior Dan O'Malley (Duxbury, Mass.).   

In upcoming action, the Bears host the Rams of Suffolk University on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 while the Beacons travel to Endicott College on Tuesday for a 3:30 match with the Gulls.
