DANBURY, Conn. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory over Little East Conference (LEC) foe Western Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the Westside Courts.

The Bears improve to 4-2 on the season with their fourth straight win and 2-1 in the Little East, while the host Colonials fall to 4-6 overall and 1-1 conference play.

Bridgewater swept the three doubles matches and split the six singles flights to come away with the key LEC triumph.

Seniors Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.) and Chris Jastrab (Chicago, Ill.) cruised to an 8-1 victory at the top doubles flight, while fellow seniors Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) and Michael Delisle (Berkley, Mass.) paired up for an 8-6 win at the second spot.

Sophomores Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) and Michael Scollins (Marshfield, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-5 triumph at number three to round out the Bears' doubles winners. For Scollins, the win marked the first of his collegiate career.

In singles play, Delisle won in straight sets at the fourth flight, 6-3, 6-1. Jastrab then recorded the deciding fifth point with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set victory at the second spot. McGee capped off the scoring for the Bears as he battled to a 7-5, 6-4 straight set win at number one.

Junior Adam Howard (Waterford, Conn.), freshman Jacques Fortier (Southbury, Conn.) and senior Matthew O'Keefe (Cromwell, Conn.), each notched singles victories for the Colonials at the third, fifth and sixth flights, respectively.

Both teams are home for Little East matches on Tuesday afternoon. The Bears entertain UMass Dartmouth at three o'clock, while the Colonials host Rhode Island College at 3:30.
