Men's Tennis Posts 7-2 Win Over Wentworth

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team recorded a 7-2 victory over visiting Wentworth on Monday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The host Bears improve to 3-2 on the season as they equaled their overall win total from a season ago. The Leopards fall to 2-4  with the setback.

Seniors Chris Jastrab (Chicago, Ill.) and Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.) teamed up for an 8-1 win at the top doubles flight, while classmates Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) and Michael Delisle (Berkley, Mass.) posted an 8-5 decision at the second spot. The Bears also picked up a forfeit win at number three to take a 3-0 lead into single play.

Jastrab added a 6-3, 6-0 straight set victory at second singles, while Delisle battled back from a set down at the fourth flight to win 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 12-10. Sophomore Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) won in straight sets at fifth singles, and the Bears received a forfeit win at number six.

Junior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) notched straight set wins at the first and third flights, respectively, to account for Wentworth's two points in the match. The Leopards were playing shorthanded as they were without their number one and number three singles players.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a one o'clock Little East Conference match with the Colonials. The Leopards head to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Fighting Scots at four.
