Matt Charest Named LEC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - For the second time this season, Bridgewater State College senior Matt Charest has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
A native of Somerset, Massachusetts, Charest helped the Bears to a perfect 3-0 week as he won all three of his first singles matches in straight sets with victories over conference opponents from Southern Maine and Rhode Island College. Charest also teamed with freshman Duncan Yarworth to post wins in two of their three doubles matches.
Bridgewater State wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 10-6 including a 4-2 mark in Little East Conference play. The Bears are seeded third in the Little East Tournament and will host a quarterfinal match with sixth seeded UMass Boston this afternoon at 3:30.
Entering the conference tournament, Charest has a singles record of 11-5 competing exclusively at the first flight. The Bears' top doubles team of Charest and Yarworth are currently 10-5 on the season.
This is the seventh career conference player of the week honor for Charest who was the Little East first flight singles champion as a sophomore in 2007.
