Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match

MILTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's tennis team won their fourth straight match as the Bears knocked off host Curry College, 7-2, on Monday afternoon in Milton, Massachusetts.

Bridgewater (6-5) took five of the six singles matches and three of the four doubles flights to come away with the win.

Junior co-captain Matt Charest (Somerset, MA) and senior co-captain Barry Gorman (Hopedale, Ma) led the Bears to the win over the Colonels.

Charest won in straight sets at first flight singles, 6-2, 6-2.  He also teamed with junior Giovanni Cuscina (Mansfield, MA) for an 8-4 victory at first doubles. Cuscina won his singles match in straight sets as well, 6-0, 6-1, at the third flight.

Gorman won his 11th straight singles match as he remains undefeated in singles play this season.  Competing at the second flight, Gorman breezed to a straight set win, 6-0, 6-1.  He teamed up with junior Brendon Barbo (Yarmouthport, MA) for hard-fought 9-7 victory at second doubles. Barbo posted a straight set win at fifth flight singles, 6-1, 6-4.

Bridgewater State wraps up the regular season on Tuesday afternoon as the Bears travel to Little East Conference foe UMass Dartmouth for a 3:30 match with the Corsairs.
