Men's Swimming & Diving Downs Gordon

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team competed against Gordon College on Saturday at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears place first in all 12 events.

Senior Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) and freshmen Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and Ben Wilkinson (Reading, England) teamed up for a win in the 400 medley relay as the foursome posted a time of 3:55.01.

The same quartet captured top honors in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:22.03.

Anastasiades was also the first to touch the wall in the 400 individual medley (4:34.21), while Flaherty won the 100 butterfly (56.70).

Senior Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) and junior Devin Bombardier (Duxbury, Mass.) each earned two individual event victories for the Bears. Willis posted a time of 23.26 seconds in the 50 freestyle, as well as a season-best time of 1:00.93 in the 100 breaststroke. Bombardier recorded a time of 1:59.07 in the 200 freestyle and 1:04.50 in the 100 backstroke.

The Bears also received individual event wins from sophomore Bryan Abbott (Taunton, Mass.) in the 1,000 freestyle (12:29.77), senior Eric Henderson (Cumberland, R.I.) in the 100 freestyle (58.13), senior Timucin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) in the 500 freestyle (5:25.61) and senior Joseph Capella (New Bedford, Mass.) in the one-meter diving competition (177.60 pts.).

The Bears are off until next Saturday when they travel to Elms College for an 11 AM meet with the Blazers.
