Men’s Swimming & Diving Outlasts Clark, 138-132

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team posted a 138-132 victory over Clark University in a tightly contested meet on Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Center Pool.

The Bears (3-1) won nine of the 15 events on the day.

BSU's relay squad featuring seniors Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), freshman Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and junior Devin Bombardier (Duxbury, Mass.) opened the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay as the foursome posted a time of 1:42.33.

Anastasiades added three individual victories in the 50 breaststroke (28.03), 100 breaststroke (1:01.98) and 100 individual medley (55.57), while Flaherty placed first in the 50 backstroke (26.54).

Senior Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) captured top honors in both the 100 freestyle (50.54) and 50 butterfly (25.14). Classmate Joseph Capella (New Bedford, Mass.) won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 168.05 points.

The quartet of Santos, Willis, freshman Ben Wilkinson (Reading, England) and senior Timucin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) cemented the meet victory by winning the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 133.95.

The Bears are back in action next Saturday afternoon when they host Gordon College at two.
