Willis Sets BSU Mark in 50 Breaststroke to Lead Men’s Swimming & Diving at NEISDA Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) captured the meet title and broke his own school record in the 50 breaststroke to lead the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team during the second day of the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships held at the  MIT Alumni Pool.

Willis placed first in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 25.99 seconds as he eclipsed his previous mark of 26.39 seconds set last season at the NEISDA Championships.

Senior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) won the NEISDA title in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:55.83.

Willis and Rose also garnered All-NEISDA honors in the 400-medley relay along with junior Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Leung (Wakefield, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 3:31.58 to place second in the event.

Junior Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) earned All-NEISDA accolades as he placed third in the 50 freestyle with a career-best time of 21.70 seconds.

Senior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) finished in second place in the preliminary round of the one-meter diving competition with 379.10 points.

The Bears are currently in fourth place in the team standings with 200 points. The four-day championships meet continues on Saturday morning with the preliminary round getting underway at ten.
