Men’s Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team split a tri-meet with Keene State College and Brandeis University on Senior Day at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (4-4) knocked off Keene State, 127-103, and dropped a 152-70 decision to Brandeis.

The BSU relay squad featuring juniors Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Michael Leung (Wakefield, Mass.) and senior Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) opened the meet with a victory in the 200-medley relay as the foursome posted a time of 1:39.79.

Senior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) placed second in both the 1,000 freestyle (10:48.19) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.04), while junior Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) finished second in the 50 freestyle (22.91) and Willis posted a second-place performance in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.39).

Junior Joseph Capella (New Bedford, Mass.) finished second in both diving events. Capella recorded a career-best score of 185.4 points on the one-meter board, and posted a mark of 137.35 points on the three-meter.

The quartet of Santos, Leung, junior Bryceon Snowman (Pace, Fla.) and Rose closed out the meet with a second-place showing in the 200 freestyle relay (132.50).

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored seniors Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.), Matthew Bourgeois (Mattapoisett, Mass.), Sean Collette (Waltham, Mass.), McDougall and Rose.

The BSU swimming & diving teams are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 23) evening as the Bears travel to Bentley University for a six o'clock meet with the Falcons.
