Men’s Swimming & Diving Hosts BSU Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team hosted the BSU Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears captured top honors in 11 of the 20 events.

The relay foursome featuring senior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) and juniors Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.), Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) and Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) placed first in both the 200 medley relay (1:37.61) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.50).

Willis was also the first to touch the wall and posted season-best times in the 100 breaststroke (58.60), 200 breaststroke (2:11.63) and 50 breaststroke (27.32).

Rose also won three individual events for the Bears as he placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:06.11), 200 backstroke (2:02.28) and 500 freestyle (5:07.62). All three were season-times.

Flaherty added a victory in the 100 backstroke (56.88), while Santos won the 50 butterfly (24.82).

Junior Joseph Capella (New Bedford, Mass.) posted a score of 153.00 points on the three-meter diving board to earn his first collegiate win.

Bridgewater State finished second in the team standings with 552 points. Norwich University won the team title with 732 points.

The BSU swimming & diving teams are off until Saturday, January 5th when the Bears host Elms College at 1:00 PM.
