Men's Swimming & Diving Rolls to 168-41 Win over Gordon

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team breezed to a 168-41 victory over visiting Gordon College on Saturday afternoon at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (4-3) posted the top time or score in all 13 events.

The BSU foursome of junior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.), sophomore Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and junior Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay as they posted a time of 1:40.27.

Rose also captured top honors in the 1,000 freestyle (10:45.38), while Willis placed first in the 50 breaststroke (27.55), Flaherty in the 200 freestyle (1:57.69) and McDougall in the 100 freestyle (53.32).

Freshman Quinn McAlear (Norton, Mass.) won both the 50 freestyle (23.05) and the 50 butterfly (23.91), while junior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) swept the two diving events. Belinsky recorded career-best scores on both the one-meter board (221.70 pts.) and the three-meter (254.65 pts.).

Senior Richard Smith (Milford, Mass.), senior Andrew Hebert (Lincoln, R.I.) and sophomore Timucin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) rounded out the Bears' individual event winners. Smith was the first to touch the wall in the 100 individual medley (55.17), while Hebert placed first in the 50 backstroke (29.87) and Marino won the 500 freestyle (5:22.55).

Bridgewater exhibitioned the final event of the day, the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of McAlear, Smith, sophomore Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) and Flaherty recorded the top time of 1:29.82.

The Bears are off until Saturday, December 2nd when they host the BSU Invitational.
