BSC Men's Swimmers Race Past Gordon College, 91-72

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's swim team captured their first dual meet victory of the season as the Bears knocked off Gordon College, 91-72, this evening from the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

The Bears (1-3) scored just four first place finishes in the meet, but posted eight second place and five third place showings.

Junior captain Mauer Desai (Pittsfield, MA) and sophomore Brendan Sullivan (Holyoke, MA) paced the Bears as they each won two events. Desai captured first in the 50 freestyle (:23.96), while Sullivan won the 200 backstroke (2:16.73).  The pair also swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay team (3:37.68) along with freshmen Ken Berardi (Hanover, MA) and Dan Connolly (Weymouth, MA). 

Also winning for the Bears was sophomore Patrick O'Neill (North Edston, MA) who placed first in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 12:05.72.

The BSC men's team is off until after the New Year.  Up next for the Bears is a home meet versus Bryant College on January 16th at 5 PM.
