Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision to Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis University men's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Tuesday night at Gordon Field.

The Judges improve to 2-1-1 on the season while the Bears fall to 1-2-1. Brandeis now owns a 15-4-3 lead in the all-time series.

Brandeis junior midfielder Slater Loffredo (North Hampton, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 38th minute as his header attempt found the back of the net off a corner kick served into the box by classmate Josh Andrews (Lexington, Mass.). The goal marked the first of was Loffredo's career.

Junior midfielder Nico Beninda (Monroe Township, N.J.) potted his team-leading third goal of the season in the 63rd minute as he redirected a shot from classmate Elan Romo (Weston, Fla.) to extend the Judges' lead to 2-0.

Brandeis held a 12-4 shot advantage for the game as well as a 6-0 edge in corner kick attempts.

Senior goalkeeper Quintin Wrabley (Malvern, Pa.) was forced to make just two saves as he recorded his second shutout of the season.

BSU senior netminder Lukas Ekmanis (Baxter, Tenn.) also finished with a pair of saves while one Brandeis shot was cleared off the line by a defender.

In upcoming action, the Judges entertain Eastern Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon at one o'clock. The Bears are off until next Monday night when they host UMass Boston at seven.
