Men's Soccer Falls to Emmanuel, 4-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to host Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Field.

The Saints improve to 2-1 on the season, while the visiting Bears fall to 0-3-1.

Sophomore Alec Erskine (Coventry, R.I) netted his fourth goal of the season just 7:52 into the game to stake the Saints to the early 1-0 lead. Erskine headed the ball into the top-right corner of the net off a crossing pass from fellow sophomore Robert Danielian (Watertown, Mass.).

The score remained 1-0 until the Saints potted three goals in a span of six minutes late in the second half to put the game well out of reach. Sophomores Sean Allen (Oxford, Mass.) and Kyle Monaghan (Monson, Mass.), and freshman Jake Champagne (Oakville, Conn.) each scored during the three-goal outburst. Champagne's goal came on a penalty kick to close out the scoring.

Shots were even for the game at 12 apiece, while the Bears held a 4-2 edge in corner kick attempts.

Emmanuel senior goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrarini (Hanover, Mass.) turned aside five shots to record his second victory of the year, while senior Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.) made two saves in the setback for the Bears.

Junior Kevin Roberts (Medway, Mass.) recorded a team-best four shots for Bridgewater State.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Rhode Island College on Wednesday evening for a six o'clock game with the Anchormen. The Saints head to Western Connecticut State University on Thursday night to take on the Colonials at seven.
