Nate Morgado Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior goalkeeper Nate Morgado has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Soccer Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Morgado backstopped the Bears to a perfect 2-0 week with a pair of road shutouts. The Dartmouth, Massachusetts product turned aside all 14 shots he faced last week as he posted a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage.

Morgado made seven saves in a 1-0 shutout victory over MASCAC foe Mass. Maritime Academy, and stopped seven shots in a 4-0 blanking of non-conference rival UMass Dartmouth as he extended his shutout streak to 272 minutes.

In 15 games this season, Morgado has a win-loss record of 9-6 with 11 shutouts and a 1.55 goals against average. He has turned aside 77 shots and currently sports a .770 save percentage.

Morgado presently leads the MASCAC in saves and ranks second in minutes played (1331:21). He is also tied for second in the conference in both wins and shutouts, and ranks fifth among the MASCAC leaders in save percentage and goals against average.

In 43 games over three seasons at Bridgewater State, Morgado is 19-19-4 with 11 shutouts, a 1.59 goals against average, 222 saves and a .766 save percentage in just over 3,842 minutes (3842:39) of work.

The  BSU men's soccer team is currently 9-6 on the season and 4-2 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Babson College on Tuesday night for a seven o'clock non-conference game with the Beavers.
