BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman forward Odair Monteiro has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
A native of Fogo, Cape Verde, Monteiro netted a goal in a 3-2 win over MCLA as the Bears secured the second seed and a first round bye in the upcoming MASAC Tournament.
In sixteen games this season, including five starts, Monteiro has collected two goals and one assist for five points.
Monteiro, is one of four Bears to garner MASCAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week accolades this season, joining classmates Robson Montrond (Brockton, Mass.) and Oliver Peluso Nora (Toms River, N.J.), and senior Renadi Durosier (Norwood, Mass.).
The BSU men's soccer team is currently 10-7 on the season and 5-2 in the MASCAC. The Bears will host a MASCAC Tournament semifinal match against either #3 Salem State University or #6 Fitchburg State University on Friday, November 2nd at 3:30 PM.
