BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior defender Tim Alzamora has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
A native of Holden, Massachusetts, Alzamora tallied his first collegiate goal and added an assist for three points while also anchoring the Bears' back line in a perfect 2-0 start to the season.
Alzamora recorded an assist and headed home what proved to be the game-winning goal in a 3-1 season-opening victory over Western New England University. In the Bears' 2-1 win over UMass Boston, the BSU defense limited the Beacons to just five shots on goal.
Alzamora has started 21 straight games on the Bears' defense since the start of last season.
The BSU men's soccer team travels to Salve Regina University on Wednesday afternoon for a 3:30 game with the Seahawks.
