Men's Soccer Drops 4-1 Decision to Clark

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Clark University on Tuesday night at Granger Field.

The host Cougars improve to 3-2-2 with the win, while the Bears fall to 1-5 with their fourth straight setback.

Junior midfielder Pirro Tomco (Worcester, Mass.) potted a pair of goals for Clark. Tomco opened the scoring with about 5 1/2 minutes left to play in the first half. He extended the Cougars' lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute.

Sophomore forward Sean Munroe (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore midfielder Charlie Lane (Southborough, Mass.) also found the back of the net for the hosts.

Junior forward Filipe Gomes (Fogo, Cape Verde) potted the Bears' lone marker of the evening in the 58th minute as he converted a penalty kick. The goal marked Gomes' team-leading third of the season.

Bridgewater held an 18-7 shot advantage (9-1 in the first half) as well as a 7-2 edge in corner kick attempts. The Cougars scored on all four of their shots on frame.

Gomes led all players with nine shots including five on net.

Clark senior goalkeeper Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) made 11 saves to record his second win of the season.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday. The Bears host MASCAC rival Framingham State University at 5:00 PM, while the Cougars travel to Wheaton College for a one o'clock game NEWMAC game with the Lyons.
